A go at gilding!

Greetings to you all, I hope this post finds you well.
After a busy couple of days, I am experiencing some pain so today (Thursday) has been a day of rest (well, knitting!) and tomorrow I plan on making cards all day!  It's my dad's birthday next week so I want to make him something he will love.
Yesterday there was crafting! My first real go at using actual gilding flakes, I usually just use the gold leaf I have from past artworks.  I have to say that I really enjoyed using them!  I stamped an image with the flitterglu (note to self, don't press down so hard when stamping onto cheap card!) and then applied Yorkshire Dales mega flakes.  I love the resulting effect.

The background paper is from a docrafts 6x6 pad, I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo ink.  As there is sheet music in the background of the stamp, I tore a strip of vintage sheet music and distressed the edges (again with Vintage Photo ink) before placing it across the centre of my card. For interest, I decided to go with quirky and attach the central image at an angle.
I finished with some Frantage in the top right corner and a 'best mum' sentiment in the top left corner.
I used: IndigoBlu flitter flakes starter kit
                             Yorkshire Dales MegaFlakes
Darkroom Door stamp
Peerless Crafts Vintage Music Paper
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Docrafts Madame Payraud 6x6 Paper Pad

I am liking the finished result, and really enjoyed using gilding flakes so will certainly be using them again soon!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you like my card-leave me a comment to let me know what you think, I do enjoy reading them :)
Until next time, Happy Crafting xx

Dragonfly Sparkle

Greetings to you all, hoping you are well.
With the exception of yesterday, I am doing quite well combatting procrastination!  Day 14, I made this card (using a background I had stamped many moons ago!).

The dragonflies are from the Peerless Craft mixed media stencil and I used Sweet Poppy Stencils paste to get them on the page, then different glitters to decorate-I love this technique! If you ever get the opportunity to watch a demo given by the lovely lady of Sweet Poppy, then don't pass it up because she's a real artist with that glitter!

Due to the time of year, I decided to make this a Mothers' Day card :)
I used:
Visible Image stamps: Bronte Border and ink splats
Verafine Onyx Black
Peerless Craft Dragonfly Mixed Media Stencil
Sweet Poppy Pearlescent White Paste
Sweet Poppy Satin Glitter: Purple, Ice Blue and Moss Green
and from my stash: red glitter, purple glitter, twine, teal card, black card, Mothers'Day stamp, bling and Candi.

I'm off now to figure out how to get an online shop (wish me luck-technology is not always my friend!), but I plan to be creating again later xx

Thank you for stopping by and, until next time, Happy Crafting!

Cute Birthday in Blue

Greetings to you, one and all :)
The thing I am most guilty of procrastinating over, is blogging!  I create but then neglect to blog what I have created, so this exercise in giving up procrastination for lent has me making a real effort to get here and share my work.  I am doing ok, I think, but need to do better.  I am my second day in with blogging every day, and blogging twice to catch up for the days I missed!
So, on day 4, I made a birthday card- using the layering up technique again.

I think this central image is so cute! Pretty much everything here is from my stash, so a perfect way to help de clutter ;). The sentiment is actually one on a tape roll by Tonic, really easy to use too- I got mine from Art & Craft House.

Thanks for stopping by and, until next time, Happy crafting!

an Easter card

Greetings one and all, I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend.

As mentioned in yesterday's mixed media post, I have attempted to give up procrastination for lent! I shared makes from day one and day ten yesterday, today I am back with two makes: day two's Easter card is first up.

It's a very different make for me, as there is no ink involved at all!

It's all layering of different papers-a great way to reduce the ever growing pile of off cuts we all inevitably end up having!  Some of the papers and the central image are from a paper pad I got from a lovely friend (I think it's a Docrafts one-it's called Honey & Hugs).  The small chick was part of a magazine freebie ages ago, and I always have Card Candi in my stash :)

Let me know what you think, and, until next time, Happy crafting xx
